We had an early flight, so we had to wake the kids up around 5\5:30am. That made for a long day (especially for Anna, as she had jet lag from arriving the day before). But we made it to the airport with time to spare and soon we were off.
The flight was pretty short, and we took a taxi to our hotel and settled in.
By this point, we were all ready for lunch. Our hotel was centrally located, so we just walked out the door and randomly walked into a restaurant. I think we chose really well, although we did break our streak of not eating local food for our first meal.
We all had pierogies, and the kids also had chicken and fries. And Miles found a new favorite food in cheese and potato pierogies.
After lunch, we just walked and explored the area. We found a little play area, and the kids burned off some energy.
The kids naturally thought that this monument was meant to be climbed |
By now it was late afternoon, and we were all tired from our travels, so we headed back toward the hotel.
We grabbed some pierogies for the hotel, and the kids had ice cream. Once we arrived back to our rooms, Matt went out to grab dessert for the two of us.
I didn't get a picture of the dessert Matt and I had, but it quickly became our favorite Polish food. It's called paczki, and it's a rich doughnut filled with jam, custard, or alcohol fillings, to name a few. The shop nearest our hotel had the best that we tasted - the outside was perfectly lightly crisp, and the inside dough was fluffy and delicious. I didn't try any that I didn't like, and I'm not a fan of jelly doughnuts.
After our dinner, it was time to get some rest. We sent Miles and Lily up to Gigi's room, and Clara stayed with us. I think we were all asleep by around 8pm, and it felt great to get some rest.
