Liverpool - Day 3

On this lovely morning, everyone slept past 7, which was much preferred to watching the sun rise. We all got up and moving, and went to Bill's Restaurant, which had an early opening time.

The food was delicious, and pretty soon we were all ready to head back to Albert Dock for The Beatles Story. Naturally, we had to stop at the green steps on the way, and I made the kids pose for pictures.

We took our time walking to the museum, and the kids ran and climbed happily.

It was a beautiful area, and the weather couldn't have been better.

How many Wheel of Liverpool pictures can I have? Lots, apparently.

We finally made it to The Beatles Story. The kids weren't overly excited about it, but they had some interest. We had been listening to more of their music leading up to the trip, and Clara had learned bits of trivia (she still occasionally says, "Two Beatles are died, and two are alive.").

We bought our tickets, and we each got audio tours. At first, Miles wanted to stop and listen to every single minute of audio, but luckily after the first several he gave it up. I love that he wanted to learn, but Lily and Clara were not very patient about it.

They loved the Yellow Submarine

After the main museum part, there was a discovery area for kids. We stayed here for a while, as the kids had so much fun.

It's funny to see your country through someone else's eyes

Just when we were about to leave, we passed through the movie room, where Yellow Submarine was playing. The kids sat for about 30 minutes, glued to the screen. When I asked Miles what he thought of it, he said, "It's weird."

After a while, they were ready to move on, and we quickly passed through the gift shop on the way out (I could've lingered, but they were begging for toys the whole time). The kids found an anchor to play on outside, and I chatted with another American mum for a few minutes.

We didn't have firm plans for the afternoon, so we wandered off in a direction we hadn't been yet. The kids found more Lambananas...

By this time we were all hungry. My map showed that we were near a poutine place I'd read about, so we stopped there for lunch. The owners had lived in Canada for some time, and when they moved back to the UK, they wanted to bring this tasty dish to the Brits.

Now, Clara loves chips, and would happily eat them for every meal. But I wasn't sure if she would like them smothered with gravy and cheese curds. I was wrong. All of the kids loved the original poutine, and Matt and I thoroughly enjoyed ours as well. If we'd been staying longer, I would have loved to go back.

Maple Bacon
Steak and garlic butter

Sufficiently stuffed, we walked aimlessly for a while before having a small rest at the hotel before souvenir hunting.

The kids had spotted a Build A Bear in the mall, and that's what they wanted for souvenirs. Of course, we had to pause so Miles could have a go on the slide.

The kids had a blast at Build A Bear. Miles chose a Pokemon, Lily a rabbit, and Clara a cat.

Matt and I also found a souvenir (not at Build A Bear).

In front of the art shop

The shop we bought our art from was in the mall where the kids had behaved very poorly on our first day. However, this time they were little angels, so on the way home we picked up more Krispy Kreme.

I stayed in the hotel with the kids while Matt went to pick up McDonalds. They had much fun with their new friends.

When Matt got back, the kids plowed through 20 chicken nuggets before we started bedtime. Clara also chugged a bunch of water, so we weren't surprised when she threw up a little. However, she was fine after that, and we put her down in our bed. Lily went to sleep, then Miles, and it was a peaceful night.
