Girls Weekend - Italy - Day 1

Recently I was lucky to have the opportunity to join three of my friends on a weekend trip to Italy. We went to celebrate one friend's upcoming birthday, and it was an amazing and relaxing trip.

We met up at the airport early in the morning, tired but excited for a few days of self care. It had been so long since any of us had been on a plane without kids; we had to celebrate.

We flew into Pisa, and stopped at the Leaning Tower for photos.

I liked watching from the wrong angle as people posed

I picked up a few keychains for the kids here
It was right around lunchtime, so we found a patio table at a nearby restaurant. The pizza was phenomenal. The sauce was the best I've ever had- it tasted like fresh tomatoes.

Once we ate, we hopped back into the rental car to drive to our hotel in Florence. We stayed at Eden Rock Resort, which was about 6 km outside the actual city. It was a quick drive into town when we wanted to go, but it was nice to stay in such a serene location. Just look at the views we had from our room!

We settled in and relaxed for a bit, then called a taxi to take us into Florence for dinner. We had asked the hotel staff where to eat, and we were not disappointed in their suggestion. I don't recall the name of the place, but it was a small restaurant filled with locals - always a good sign.

After a bit of a wait that had me missing orderly British queues, we sat down for a fantastic meal.

Limoncello for dessert

It wasn't very late after dinner, but we were all tired after a full day of travel. We hailed a taxi back to the hotel to rest up for the next day.
